NCsoft is looking into the future of one of the most appreciated MMORPG franchises. The surprise hit City of Heroes launched in 2004 and has since seen competition from Champions Online - from the same developer, Cryptic Studios - and is expecting DC Universe Online from SOE.

A trademark was spotted recently, pointing out to City of Heroes 2. Although NCsoft refused to specifically comment on this, they said that City of Heroes is a cherished franchise and they plan to expand on it. It's very likely that the sequel is already in the making, might we add.

As for City of Heroes number one, NCsoft will release a new expansion in a couple of months. Going Rogue is the name, and the main attraction will be the opportunity for heroes to turn into villains, and vice versa.
